About Yuto Kanazawa
Yuto Kanazawa is a genre-blending Japanese jazz guitarist based in New York City. Born in Tokyo in 1986, he began music at age three, later teaching himself guitar in rural Fukushima before studying jazz at Koyo Conservatory in Kobe and Berklee College of Music under mentors Mick Goodrick, Tim Miller, and Hal Crook.
Yuto has released over ten albums, won the International Songwriting Competition in Jazz, and been a finalist in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. His debut album *Earthwards* featured Grammy-winning vocalist Kurt Elling, and he has signed with Universal Music Group’s UNXT (now Virgin Music Group) and Japan’s Apollo Sounds.
He has toured internationally, performed at Blue Note NYC, Smalls, and B.B. King’s, and collaborated with artists including Lonnie Plaxico, Kaleta, Kuni Mikami, and Jun Izumi. On Spotify, his solo guitar recordings have surpassed three million streams, and he is a leading jazz guitar voice on Instagram with 100k followers.
In 2025, Yuto joined jazz legend drummer Ronnie Burrage’s Holographic Principle, performing throughout the States playing 622BEYOND.
東京都出身、福島県の高校を卒業後、神戸の甲陽音楽院を経てバークリー音楽大学卒業。ニューヨーク在住のジャズギタリスト。デビューアルバムEarthwardsでグラミー賞受賞シンガー、カート・エリングと共演、国際作曲コンペのジャズ部門で1位に選ばれる。
これまでにUnited East Jazz Quintet、Itellu、MicroCorgi、Infinite Loop等、数多くのプロジェクトを手掛ける他、クニ三上、及部恭子、マット・スノー、クリス・パーカーのバンドで活動。Blue Note NYC、Smalls Jazz Club、Fat Cat、BB King Blues Club、Bar Next Door等ニューヨークの主要クラブに出演。
パンデミックを機にソロギター音源の配信を開始、クイーンズの小さなレストランで長年弾いていた曲達がユニバーサルレコードUNextに見出され、Spotifyで計300万回再生される。
現在はWoodsiders Collective、伊澄純とのNo Day But Todayを始め、ブラジリアン７弦ギターでのソロやフラメンコのユニットでも演奏している。Instagramの投稿も人気を博し、10万人のフォロワーに向けてジャズギターインフルエンサーとしても活動中。
2025年よりレジェンドドラマー、ロニー・ブラージのバンドに参加。同バンドで622BEYONDを使用。
