Passive Circuit with 19mm String Spacing + 1
The new 5 string bass model has a simple and practical passive circuit and is equipped with the “Five Vantage+ set” that outputs clear and powerful sound from the 1st to 5th strings. It also is equipped with a new original bridge, “SAITO VTB-5”, which maintains the standard 19mm string spacing for typical 4 string basses and designed with an image like adding further one more bridge. We created a new standard model for 5 string bass composed of those distinctive original parts.
１弦から５弦までクリアーでパワフルなサウンドを出力する”Five Vantage+ set”を搭載した、シンプルで実用的なパッシブサーキット。そして、ベースにおけるスタンダードな弦間隔19mmピッチを守り、弦を+１するイメージで設計した新しいブリッジ”SAITO VTB-5”。２つの自社オリジナルパーツを軸に、５弦ベースの新しいスタンダードとなるモデルを設計しました。
Classic Style Body
The depth of the neck pocket and thickness of the pickguard are designed to enable focus on playing without any discomfort. Absolutely, you can adjust a truss rod without detaching a neck from a body.
ネックジョイントの深さやPGの厚みなど、違和感なく演奏に集中できるようデザインいたしました。もちろん、ネックをセットしたままトラスロッドを調整することが可能です。
Fingerboard and Frets
Fingerboard is designed in 12 – 16 inch compound radius, and it can be setup with low string action. Using ”Jescar FW-57110 Jumbo frets” achieve long life and smooth fingering to play. By designing rounded the corners of the fretboard end, players no need to worry about hurting their fingers when they intensely pick or chop strings at position of near neck end.
指板のラディアスは12-16inchのコンパウンドラディアスで設計し、低い弦高セッティングに対応。フレットはジャンボサイズのフレット”Jescar FW-57110”を使用し、長寿命とスムーズなフィンガリングを実現しています。更に、指板エンドの角を丸めるようにデザインすることで、ネック寄りのポジションでピッキング・スラップをするプレイヤーも指を痛める心配がありません。
Neck Grip
The new neck grip “Classic-JB Grip-5” is designed for this product. Despite wider than width of the neck for 4 string bass but it provides comfortable to play.
このモデルの為に新しく設計した”Classic JB Grip-5”を採用。4弦よりも幅広でありながら、快適な演奏性を実現しました。
Tuners and Headstock Design
This headstock is the most iconic shape of S-Series and its surface is designed in three dimensions to protect a headstock from bending under long-term string tension. “GB528” is a super lightweight tuner and contributes approximately 40% to 50% lighter than previous one and achieves to reduce the weight of headstock tend to be heavy. The tuners are fixed to headstock by 2 screws and a nut solidly and conducts string vibration precisely while ensuring tuning accuracy.
S-Seriesのアイコニックなアウトラインに、経年によるヘッドの起き上がりを防ぐための立体的な形状をデザイン。従来の製品と比較して40-50%軽量な小型チューナー”GB528”を採用することで、重くなりがちなヘッドを軽量化。チューナー本体は2本のビスとナットで強力にヘッドに固定され、チューニング精度を担保しながら確実な弦振動のみをアウトプットします。
Tough Graphite Nut with Standard String Specing
By using the nut made of tough graphite, players free from troubles coursed by nut wear. A string spacing of the nut is set approximately the same balance as 4-string bass. This creates a playing feel like adding one more string to a 4-string bass that is the concept of this instrument. The neat nut action gives fingering without any stresses when playing at low position of frets.
摩耗に強いグラファイト素材のナットを採用することで、プレイヤーはナットの消耗によるトラブルから解放されます。ナットに切られている弦溝のピッチも、４弦仕様と同程度のバランスに設定することで、この楽器のコンセプトである４弦+１の演奏感を生み出しています。整えられたナットアクションは、ローフレットのストレスの無いフィンガリングを可能にします。

"VTB-5" 19mm Spacing Original Bridge
The design concept of the bridge is to convert a 5-string bass bridge into the same structure as a traditional 4-string bass bridge. The bass bridge is set spiral saddles to the plate bended iron sheet and the same structure of a traditional 4 string bass. The weight achieves to reduce about 50% lighter than the cutting metal bridge one. By fixing with screws at not only end of the bridge plate but also at 2 points on front to the body, the bridge endures high string tension and pressure and transmits the string vibrations to the body solidly.
スタンダードな4弦ブリッジをそのまま5弦仕様にコンバートすることをコンセプトに設計。トラディショナルなブリッジと同様、鉄シートを曲げて製作したプレートに、スパイラルサドルをセット。削り出しのブリッジと比較して50%程軽量に仕上げています。プレート後部だけでなく前部もビスで固定することで、弦のテンションや圧力に耐え、弦振動を確実にボディに伝達します。
Aluminium Joint Plate
The cutting joint plate is made of hard aluminum in 5mm thickness. The neck and plate maintain constant pressure so that the body paint will not be damaged even when the bolts are tightened tightly. No need to worry about the order of tightening those bolts and how tightly I should tighten them. This tough joint plate reduces those uncertainties that string instruments jointing with bolts on have.
5mm厚のアルミニウム削り出しのジョイントプレートを採用。ネックとプレートが一定の圧力でセットされ、強く締めこんでもボディの塗装を痛めることがありません。このプレートによって、ねじを締める順序や強さを意識する必要がなく、ボルトオン楽器特有の不確実性を軽減しています。
Five Vantage+ Pickup Set
The new bass pickup set, “Five Vantage+”, was developed through repeated trial and error to achieve the output and tone that is best suited to this new product. It maintains clear tone and output powerful and punchy low mid sound. This pickup is an excellent expressive and character such as outputting powerful tone when you pick hard with your fingers and slightly nuances of fingertips when you pick softly.
新しいピックアップセット”Five Vantage+”は、楽器本体に最も適した出力・音色となるよう、何度もテストを重ねて開発いたしました。クリアーさ保ちながら力強くパンチのあるローミッドをアウトプットし、強くピッキングすればパワフルに、やさしく指でピッキングすれば指先のかすかなニュアンスがアウトプットされる、優れた表現力を持ち味としています。
